How It Works

Refer by visiting our referral submissions form if you know a qualified candidate who's interested in the position or a veterinarian open to working in any geographic area.

If hired, you could receive up to $10,000 for a veterinarian referral, $5,000 for hospital managers, $2,500 for licensed veterinary technicians, and $1,000 for other roles

Payment Details

Referral bonus payout amounts vary by role. Standard payout amounts as of June 2024 are:

Referral bonuses will be paid after NVA’s Recruiting Team is able to verify eligibility and within 90 days after the start date of the referred employee. Bonuses will be taxed appropriately. Award amounts are subject to change. 

Eligibility Rules

All employees of NVA Group are eligible to refer candidates to any position, including new hires who have accepted an offer but have not started.
Employees must be actively employed at the time of payment.
Employees must submit their referrals through our referral form to be eligible.
Eligible referrals must not have previously applied for a position within six months of the submission.
Eligible referrals must not have worked at an NVA practice within the last two years.
Referrals must remain employed in the referred role for six months from the hire date.
The referred candidate must accept an offer for employment within six months from the date of the referral submission; after six months, the referral expires and will no longer be eligible for a bonus.
Any DVM referral hired to a non-clinical role will qualify as a corporate hire payout or “other role” listed above.
Employee referral submissions will only be accepted within 10 days of a candidate’s application or before an offer is extended, whichever comes first.

Exclusions

Qualifying referrals exclude:

Direct hiring managers or those responsible for hiring decisions of the referred individual.
Hospital leaders who refer candidates to their own hospital.
Transfers from other NVA practices or teams.
Referral submissions of current full-time and part-time employees.
Members of NVA Group’s Recruiting and Talent Acquisition teams.
Hires into a relief or temporary position (the submission would be eligible if you influence a current relief veterinarian to convert to a full-time role).

  • While we upgrade our systems, our referring process is manual, but you can expect an update within a reasonable time. For an update, you may reach out to employeereferrals@nva.com at any time.

  • Referral bonuses will be paid after NVA’s Recruiting Team can verify eligibility and within 90 days after the referred employee's start date. Bonuses will be taxed appropriately.

  • There is no limit on how many candidates you refer or how much you can earn from referral payouts.

  • The referral bonuses are calculated on a variety of factors including talent supply, historical hiring volumes, and urgency.

  • Veterinarians can be referred for specific advertised roles or broader geographic areas. All other referrals should be connected to an open role.

  • Your recruiter will be able to answer questions about the program, but please copy or email employeereferrals@nva.com to help us streamline all referral-related questions.
